Competition Terms and Conditions: Be in to win a return train journey for two aboard the TranzAlpine, travelling in Scenic Plus

1. Participation in this promotion is deemed acceptance of these Terms and Conditions as amended or modified from time to time. 

2. The promotion is being run by The New Zealand Automobile Association (Incorporated) located at Level 5, 20 Viaduct Harbour Avenue, Auckland 1010 (the “Promoter”).

3. Any enquiries about this promotion are to be directed to win@aa.co.nz.

4. Promotion key details:

a. Promotion Period: This promotion starts at 7am Wednesday 1 July 2026 and ends at 11.59pm, Monday 31 August 2026.

b. One (1) winner will be selected from Members who complete and submit the competition entry form during the promotional period.

c. Open only to AA Members who are 18 or over (other than directors, employees and their immediate families of the Promoter and its associated companies) and who enter the competition during the Promotion Period.

d. Prize: One voucher for a train journey for two aboard the TranzAlpine, travelling in Scenic Plus.

Prize voucher terms and conditions:

i. Vouchers can’t be used for purchases on trains or at stations, or redeemed in conjunction with other vouchers or discounts.

ii. All travel is subject to availability at time of booking and is not valid between 20 December 2026 and 5 January 2027.

iii. The full value of the voucher must be used in a single transaction. No refunds, change or credit will be given for any portion of the voucher’s stated value.

iv. The voucher is not transferable, exchangeable or redeemable for cash and cannot be on-sold.

v. Prize redemption: The Promoter will contact the winner via email with the details of the prize redemption process. The prize supplier is Great Journeys New Zealand.

vi. Winner contact: The winner will be drawn on Friday 4 September 2026 and notified by email within 7 business days. If the Promoter is unable to contact the winner after making up to 3 attempts within 7 calendar days of the announcement date, the prize will be forfeited and a new winner will be drawn.

The Prize

5. If a winner does not want to accept a prize, the prize will be forfeited, and a further winner will be decided from the remaining entries.

6. The prize must be taken as offered and cannot, whether in whole or in part, be transferred or exchanged, except at the Promoter’s sole discretion. All other expenses associated with the prize are the responsibility of the winner.

7. By accepting the prize, you agree to participate in and co-operate as required with all reasonable marketing activities relating to the prize including but not limited to being interviewed or photographed. The Promoter reserves the right to use your comments, image and name for advertising and publicity purposes in any media, including but not limited to national newspapers, magazines, radio, television and online, in perpetuity without compensation.

8. In determining the prize winner, the Promoter’s decision is final, and no correspondence will be entered into.

Privacy

9. By entering this promotion you agree that the Promoter may use the personal information collected from you:

a. To conduct this promotion, including determining and notifying the winner and disclosing that information to Great Journeys New Zealand as the prize supplier and, as required, to regulatory authorities; and

b. For future marketing purposes in accordance with our privacy policy which can be found at www.aa.co.nz/privacy.

Promoter Conditions

10. The Promoter reserves the right, at any time and in its sole discretion, to:

a. request entrants to provide proof of identity and/or proof of valid entry;

b. disqualify any entrant reasonably believed to have breached any of these conditions or engaged in any unlawful or other improper conduct or any conduct calculated to jeopardise the fair and proper conduct of the promotion;

c. cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the promotion if this promotion is not capable of running as planned for any reason;

d. provide the winner with an alternative prize (or part of the prize), of greater or equal monetary value and/or specification if for any reason the prize becomes unavailable; and

e. take any action that may be available if for any reason, the Promoter is not able to conduct the promotion as planned, including due to tampering, unauthorised intervention, fraud, any technical difficulties or any other causes beyond the Promoter’s reasonable control, which corrupts or affects the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this promotion.

11. To the extent permitted by law, the Promoter assumes no responsibility for:

a. any error, omission, interruption, deletion, defect, delay in operation or transmission, communications line failure, theft or destruction or unauthorised access to or alteration of entries;

b. any entries not received for any reason during the promotion period;

c. any tax liabilities that may arise from winning the prize;

 d. if the prize is lost, stolen, or tampered with in any way after it leaves its possession; and

e. any loss (including indirect and consequential loss) or damage or personal injury suffered or sustained in connection with the Promotion including the supply of goods or services by any person to the prize winner, and where applicable to any persons accompanying the prize winner.

12. The Promoter excludes all warranties in relation to the quality, suitability, or merchantability of a prize and limits its liability, and that of its employees or agents, for breach of any rights a consumer may have to the payment of the costs of having the prize supplied again.
