By entering AA Lollipop Legends Competition (“the Competition”), the school agrees to accept the following terms and conditions (“Terms and Conditions”).
The New Zealand Automobile Association (Incorporated) (the “Promotor”) has developed this Competition to support school road patrols across the country.
The Competition will run from 9:00am Monday 15 June 2026 until 11:59pm Sunday 26 July 2026. There is no fee to enter the Competition.
To be eligible to enter, a school must:
Have a school traffic safety team (which may be referred to by various names, including a ‘school patrol team’ or ‘school crossing patrol team’) associated with a NZ Police School Community Officer or other recognised New Zealand transport authority; and
the nomination must be made from a member of the school staff.
(an “Eligible Entrant”).
If a member of the school’s senior staff or board is an immediate family to an employee of The New Zealand Automobile Association Limited, NZ Police, NZTA or SASTA this must be declared with their nomination. A perceived conflict will not void the entry, but will enable the appropriate judge(s) to recuse themselves.
If the same school has made multiple nominations, the nomination of the Promoter’s choice will be considered.
Entries that do not comply with these Terms and Conditions, are incomplete, unclear or materially inaccurate will be invalid.
There will be one winning school selected from the North Island and one selected from the South Island (each a “Prize Winner”). Qualifying schools of New Zealand’s offshore islands will be classified according to their nearest island (North Island or South Island). Each Prize Winner will each separately receive:
One NZD$10,000 school safety grant; and
One school celebration for winning school road patrollers; attended by rugby legend Renee Holmes;
(together the “Prize”).
The Prize Winners will be selected by a panel of judges, consisting of representatives from the Promotor, NZ Police, NZTA and SASTA.
The judges will evaluate the Eligible Entries with reference to, but not limited by, the following criteria:
Strength of nomination - How the school would use the $10k grant to improve safety for students and/or the community, and how great the impact of the grant would have on the winning school.
The judges’ decision is final, and no correspondence will be entered into.
The Prize Winners will be selected by 14 August 2026 and will be contacted by phone from Monday 17 August. If, after making reasonable attempts, AA cannot contact the Prize Winner by phone within 5 days, a Prize Winner will no longer be eligible to receive the Prize and the judges will select another primary school on the same Terms and Conditions, until a winner is successfully contacted. The Prize will be paid to the school directly from the Promotor.
By entering the Competition each Eligible Entrant, agrees and acknowledges:
they have obtained all relevant permissions and rights to submit the content (such as text, data, images, photos or names) (“Content”) whether under the Privacy Act or otherwise;
they grant the Promoter (and its related companies), NZTA, NZ Police, and Renee Holmes free and ongoing rights to use, modify, publish and distribute that Content for any reasonable purpose related to road safety and school road safety patrols. This includes any personal information (for example photos of staff or pupils) that may be included. The Promotor will not be required to obtain your permission for any such use or attribute any Content to you;
the Promoter NZTA, NZ Police, and Renee Holmes may, free of charge, use and re-use for reasonable pre-and post-event publicity and advertising, entrant information, including names, photographs, film and video footage of the Prize Winners and their guests taken by or on behalf of the Promotor (copyright in which vests in the Promoter); and
that the Prize Winners and their guests will be participating in any reasonable publicity events for the above purposes.
The Promotor is not responsible for any failure to receive an entry for any reason including failure of internet connection or any other technical reason how-so-ever caused.
The Promotor, its related companies and agencies associated with this Competition, are not liable for any loss or damage whatsoever (including but not limited to direct, indirect or consequential loss) (“Loss”) as a consequence of participation or as a consequence of the use and enjoyment of the Prize, except where such Loss cannot be excluded by law.
The Promotor may in its sole discretion amend these Terms and Conditions, cancel the Competition, or disqualify a school for not compliance with these Terms and Conditions.
Where there is any inconsistency between any representations or marketing of the Competition and these Terms and Conditions, these Terms and Conditions will prevail to the extent of such inconsistency.
Any personal information submitted as part of an entry will be held and used by the Promotor to run the Competition. It will not be used for any purpose other than those in these Terms and Conditions.
These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of New Zealand and are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts.
