South Canterbury Museum
From fossils to fashions, the South Canterbury Museum is a great place to catch up with South Canterbury's past. Permanent displays include local geology, wildlife, Maori history, European settlement and recent social history. See a full-size model of Richard Pearse's plane - believed to have flown before the Wright Brothers. A changing temporary exhibition programme brings a wide variety of topics and shows. Watch fascinating local history audiovisual presentations in the Museum's Heritage Theatre.
