The Victorian homestead was built in 1895; restoration started in the late 1990’s and its transformation continues to this present day. It's situated beside the Whanganui Rivier. A short walk along the river walkway will take you to town or the Saturday market. Upon entering the generous reception area, you are immediately enfolded in the ambiance of yester-year with high stud, floor rugs, floor to ceiling drapes and impressive staircase. Free high speed Wifi is available throughout Braemar House. Ample free parking available directly in front of Braemar House. In the large flourishing garden, there is outside furniture for your relaxation and enjoyment. YHA Whanganui, Braemar House looks forward to welcoming you with the hospitality that Whanganui is famous for and to offer you a glimpse into the luxury accommodation of early New Zealand. Historic Braemar House, built in 1895, is adjacent to the banks of the Whanganui River and close to Victoria Avenue, one of New Zealand’s most attractive high streets.
