Kayak to Rangitoto Island at sunset

TAP FOR MORE INFO:

Paddling your own sea kayak across the Waitemata Harbour is a magical experience at any time of day, but how about upping the ante and doing it on dusk.

Auckland Sea Kayaks run daily (weather-dependant) tours to Rangitoto Island, Auckland’s youngest and most iconic volcano.

The five-kilometre trip will take you across the sparkling waters of the Tāmaki Strait, past seabirds, penguins and passing ferries.

After making landfall on the island, you’ll take a scenic trek through ancient lava flows and the world’s largest pōhutukawa forest to the summit where you can get a prime view of the sunset.
